The Shetland Way: by Marianne Brown
The author, an environmental journalist, returns home to Shetland (and gets caught out there during Covid). She listens to people’s stories about windfarms, climate crisis, ownership, community and family, and how these things overlap and interact. A good book to read at any time, but particularly while on holiday on Shetland.
A Dark so Deadly: by Stuart MacBride
Not the most uplifting book. Depressed council estates, a dysfunctional police team, and an off-the-scale serial killer. I nearly gave up on it, but at the same time the story was dragging me in. In the end the solution was a bit unbelievable; but then I wondered whether it was really a dark comedy.
